Teaching and Learning at CNC

Excellence in Teaching and Learning is one of the school's two priority areas. Teachers at the school are informed by the 8 pillars, which prioritise having high expectations and building positive relationships.

As a staff we have a high Collective Teacher Efficacy which acknowledges that together we are stronger than the sum of our parts. We understand that students at Cape Naturaliste College respond well to a range of pedagogies and respect a mastery of content in their teachers. Teaching is a deeply enriching profession and our close learning relationships are formed with empathy and a recognition for individual differences of each student, class and cohort.

By supporting each other through sharing effective practice, peer observation and professional kindness, the power of education to transform lives is brought to the fore. Driven by a sense of purpose, passionate teachers provide deep opportunity in a safe learning environment, and by engaging students in their subject and the world around them, we encourage them to use education to enrich their own lives and others'.

This site's quiver and craft are part of the school's teaching and learning. They aim to support them, rather than encapsulate them, and offer support for the Professional Learning that we, as a staff, have embarked on.
